JACKS

The jack is an assembly of the cylinder, packing, and plunger of a hydraulic elevator. This is the device responsible for pushing the elevator up by means of hydraulic fluid under pressure. The average life-span of a hydraulic cylinder is 30 years. Also, it was common practice prior to 1973 for single bottom cylinders to be manufactured and installed. Some of these single bottom cylinders have been found to have serious issues with the bottom of the cylinder giving way due to rust and electrolysis. If your elevator was installed prior to this date, you should contact our office to discuss replacement of your cylinder. Delaware Elevator would include the following in replacing your hydraulic cylinder:

Delaware Elevator can provide new hydraulic cylinder including the following

  • Provide all rigging to support car in overhead during demolition
  • Perform all demolition and removal of underground hydraulic cylinder and piston
  • Remove any contaminants within the well hole casing that can be hand dug or removed with water and air
  • Install new single or multi-piece hydraulic cylinder and piston
  • New cylinder would include manufacturers applied extruded coating for system protection from electrolysis
  • Provide and install schedule 40 PVC liner if well hole casing exists and is large enough to accommodate PVC and plumb new jack
  • Perform adjusting and full load test with elevator inspector, as required.
